Race Track Equipment and Supplies

Racing equipment

Racing is one of the most popular sports in the world, and has been so for centuries. Modern auto racing is merely an evolution of the chariot races of ancient Rome; however, today’s chariots utilize several hundred horses packed under the hood of a finely tuned thrill machine. Nothing gets the blood pumping faster than the sound of a 500 horse power road monster.

Racing is our life, here at Cincy-racing.com. Our passion for the sport inspired us to create this website for the express purpose of providing information for the novice racer. Our goal is to act as a resource for people interested in learning the basics of auto racing. We do our best to ensure that all the information we post here is unbiased towards any one company or product; and we try to keep everything as up-to-date as possible.

Racing, like any other sport, requires a host of specialized equipment. Racing equipment can range from relatively inexpensive items like gloves and shoes, to what is usually the most expensive item, the car itself. Unfortunately, the vast majority of race equipment tends to be expensive, which can offer problems for the amateur enthusiast.

The car is obviously the most expensive piece of equipment needed for auto racing. For professional racing teams, these vehicles can easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars and undergo months of testing before they are officially entered in a race. They are designed with super high performance engines and suspension systems; and employ extremely lightweight composite body panels. These vehicles are meant for track use only, and are not street legal. Many racers put custom rims and accessories on their car, to stand out from the competition.

Race car equipment for the amateur is a bit different. In most cases, amateur race cars are simply modified versions of commonly seen passenger vehicles. Amateur racing uses a class system, and the amount of modification to the stock vehicle determines the class in which it can race. For most local club racing, the car must still be street legal, which means that most modifications are kept to things like suspension and exhaust systems.

When it comes to auto racing, safety should be paramount. The sport has many inherent dangers that can prove fatal to even the best drivers. Therefore, safety equipment should be installed on every race vehicle.

A racing harness is an absolutely essential part of any list of race supplies. These are designed to hold the driver firmly in place during hard maneuvering and in the event of a crash. These are often used in conjunction with a roll cage racing seats to provide a maximum amount of protection for the driver.

The correct apparel is also important for driver safety. Racing gear should always include basic items like a properly certified racing helmet, a fire-resistant suit, and of course racing gloves and shoes. The best place to find these items is through local or online race supply outlets. These specialty stores can help you find all the necessary race track equipment that you’ll need.
