Race Track Equipment
Race track equipment is often more specialized than any other type of performance equipment. The ultra-high speeds that are inherent on a race track require the vehicle to be modified in such a way that the car can safely navigate the track. Various modifications to the suspension, tires and body of the car are necessary in most cases.
Tires are one of the most essential pieces of race track equipment. Slamming through a tight corner at 100+ mph requires tires that have significantly more grip that any street tire can accomplish. Race tires are often much wider than street tires and they are solid surface, not treaded.
Shocks and struts are also important pieces of race track equipment. In order to reduce drag and improve the handling abilities of a race car, the suspension is designed to allow the car to sit very close to the ground. The springs and shocks are usually quite stiff in order to reduce any chance of rolling the vehicle.
