Racing Harness
Much like a seat belt, a racing harness is a first line of defense against injury. They keep the driver firmly seated during high-impact crashes and rollovers. However, due to the high speeds involved in racing, a harness system is a bit more complex than a standard seat belt.
The typical seat belt has anchor points at three points, in most cases. A racing harness, on the other hand, is usually designed with five anchor points. A belt over each shoulder, one across the waist, and one coming from between the legs all join at a buckle in the middle.
This racing harness design offers a maximum amount of protection. When combined with a racing seat, these systems are designed to hold the driver in place during hard cornering as well as accidents. Racing should never be attempted without a quality harness system.
